THE new buses on the X99 route to Inverness have been slammed as "completely unsuitable" for disabled people or parents with children.
Brenda Herrick, the former chair of the Castletown and District Community Council, says she has written to Stagecoach North Commercial Director Daniel Laird to voice her concerns.
Councillor Struan Mackie, who raised the issue at last month's Thurso Community Council meeting said "I am disappointed that Stagecoach have decided to cascade this vehicle for the X99 route given the very limited facilities for disabled passengers." "I regularly take the X99 for early meetings in Inverness and this new vehicle has been consistently used since its relocation from the Scottish Borders. I understand that Stagecoach struggle to find the appropriate busses for routes across the Far North but I do believe that this is a step backward."
"Last week I wrote to Sagecoach North expressing my concerns and the concerns of the Caithness Bus Action Group and I await a response from the company."
